Dr. Laurie Mylroie

Dr. Laurie Mylroie is National Security Correspondent in Washington DC, where she covers the State Department and Pentagon for Kurdistan 24, a major Erbil-based media outlet.

Mylroie obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and her Ph.D. from Harvard University, while she also studied Arabic at the American University of Cairo.

She has worked on the Middle East her entire professional life, first teaching at Harvard’s Department of Government and then in the Strategy and Policy Department of the U.S. Naval War College.

She has served as a cultural advisor to US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, in addition to working at several think tanks in the Washington DC area and elsewhere.

Mylroie is the author of three books on Iraq, while she has published numerous articles, including in the Los Angeles Times, The National Interest, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.
